Societal Consequences to the Transition to Green Hydrogen

The need for green hydrogen is likely to require massive expansion of renewable energy plants. Researchers have identified a gap between political action, technological developments, and expertise from the social sciences and humanities as the world transitions from fossil fuels to green hydrogen. They argue that the respective funding and research needs to be scaled up before energy infrastructures are built to forestall possible long-lasting socio-ecological mismatches.
